Ruth and I spent a couple of hours on Sunday 31 May wandering around the beautiful gardens at Meon Orchard in Kingsmead near Wickham, which is part of the National Gardens Scheme. I took plenty of photographs and I’ve uploaded most of them to a new gallery page so that you can take a look too.

Back from Gambia

We’re back from our holiday in Gambia. The weather was just as expected - very hot and sunny all day, every day - and the rainy season has yet to arrive.

The hotel was excellent as was the hospitality from the staff and the locals in general. The food was good and plentiful, even offering a full English breakfast among other dishes every morning!

Hello from Gambia!

I couldn’t resist finding an internet connection here in Gambia, so I thought I would post my first international message on my website.

The weather is hot, hot, hot every day….all day!

The hotel is great as is the local hospitality.

We’ve taken quite a few photos already and hope to take more over the next couple of days before we head home.

Holiday in Gambia

We actually have a summer holiday booked already for this year - quite an achievement for us as we normally pick up a last minute deal. We’re off to Gambia on the west coast of Africa for a well deserved break. The weather forecast is looking good and we should be in and out before the rainy season arrives!

The place looks great and the reviews from others who have been are all very positive. So it’s just the various deseases that I need to watch out for - malaria, hepatitis, yellow fever, typhoid, etc! We’ll be dosed up with anti-malaria tablets by then and we will have had a variety of jabs so all should be well.
